A five year old who offered to take over from Connor Ripley, once he returned to Middlesbrough, has been offered a ‘trial’ at Oldham Athletic.

Worried about Ripley’s return to his parent club, 5 year old Thomas Young wrote directly to the club offering his services. Fantastically, the Latic’s chairman replied to the young lad to try out at the club.

In front of the the opposition fans, Thomas was put through his paces by the Oldham goalkeeper coach prior to Oldham’s game against Rochdale.

From the directors box, dressed in full kit “In case he was needed”, Young watched the match. His father said that it was a dream come true. A fantastic gesture by the club that he will certainly remember forever.
