Research by BetStars has found the best performing players in the Champions League this season, awarding them a power ranking out of 10, based on four key factors; a player’s individual contribution, player’s team’s performance in their area of the pitch, home advantage and strength of opposition, to determine the influence a player has had on their team’s performances.

Who are the best ranked goalkeepers?

Ranked second in the defensive player standings and top goalkeeper is David de Gea, who has conceded just one goal in five Champions League appearances despite facing chances worth 5.5 expected goals. This has given him a rating of 7.67 out of 10.

Behind De Gea, were Marc-Andre Ter Stegen (7.40), Ederson (7.23) and Alphonse Areola (6.97) who all made the top ten the defensive rankings.
